Assistance

Township Assistance is a unique governmental service provided by the Clay Township Trustee’s Office. Township assistance is generally referred to as temporary assistance because it is only used to provide a temporary or short-term remedy. Those individuals and families who apply for this assistance must prove that they are unable to provide for their basic needs through personal effort and that they have exhausted all other means.

Clay Township strives to provide assistance in the most economical means possible. Those who do not meet the requirements are referred to other programs and are counseled on alternative community resources which may be available. We attempt to facilitate partnerships with local church’s and charitable organizations in our community. Township Assistance is a program that allows those with temporary personal needs the opportunity to apply for relief of their need(s) for food, clothing, shelter, and other basic necessities.

The state statute requires the completion of an application for assistance, a thorough investigation and, when found eligible, assists in the most economical means available. Those individuals and families who apply for this assistance must prove that they are unable to provide for their basic needs through personal effort and that they have exhausted all other means.
