Investment
Clay Township
is one of nine townships in Hamilton County, Indiana. The township's
approximately 50 square miles are bounded by 96th Street on the south, 146th
Street on the north, the White River on the east, and the Boone County line on
the west. The population of Clay Township, which includes the City of Carmel,
is estimated at 80,000.
The John W. Hensel
Government Center, completed in 1997 (located at 10701 N. College, Indianapolis,
46280), houses the offices of the Township Trustee, Township Assessor, Clay
Township Regional Waste District, and Fire Station No. 45.

Community
Life
and
Learning
Center
at
515
East
Main
Street
started
as
an
investment
in
higher
education,
workforce
development
and
urban
reuse.
The
need
for
a
dedicated
and
centrally
located
learning
center
was
first
noted
by
a
county-wide
task
force.
The
building
is
now
leased
to
the
Legacy
Fund
Community
Foundation,
IUPUI
and
Ivy
Tech,
offering
area
residents
opportunities
for
personal
growth
and
social
interaction.

Other
commitments
to investment
within
the
Township
include
the
Weather
Emergency
Warning
System
which
was
funded
by Clay
Township
in 1998
and
its
fire
stations.
Clay
Township
has
six
fire
stations,
the
newest
being
Station
#46
located
near
136th
and
Spring
Mill
Road.
The
township's
investment
in fire
and
emergency
services
has
substantially
lowered
the
cost
of homeowners
and
commercial
insurance.
